Important Plan Terms
The conditions that matter, stated plainly
We would rather set the conditions out plainly than leave a family to discover them at the worst possible moment. This page summarises them in ordinary language.
1. Premiums and lapsing
Membership may lapse after 31 days if a premium is not paid or collected. If a plan lapses, the cover and the benefits attached to it may no longer apply.
If you are ever worried about a payment, please contact us before the plan lapses. We would always rather talk it through with you.
2. Who conducts the funeral
Service benefits apply when Bambanani Funeral Services conducts the funeral. The benefits described on this website are the funeral we provide — the coffin, the transport, the groceries, the tent and the rest — and they are delivered as part of a funeral we carry out.
3. The nature of the cover
The product is described in the official pamphlet as a burial policy rather than a general cash policy. Its purpose is to provide a dignified funeral rather than a cash sum.
An open point we will not gloss over. The official pamphlet states that this is a burial policy and not a cash policy, and it also refers to a R6,000 amount for grocery and a R1,000 amount for tent and grave in respect of children, dependants and extended family. We have not attempted to reconcile these statements ourselves. The final eligibility for each benefit, and the form in which it is provided, is governed by the official policy documentation. Please confirm the position that applies to your plan directly with Bambanani Funeral Services before relying on it.
4. Waiting periods and eligibility
All three plans carry a 6-month waiting period. Age limits apply to each category of person covered, and they differ between Plan A, Plan B and Plan C. The age limits published on our funeral plans page are taken directly from the official pamphlet.
For Plan C, please contact Bambanani Funeral Services to confirm the applicable member and spouse age limits before taking out cover.
5. Crossover clients
Special conditions may apply to qualifying crossover clients. Please contact Bambanani Funeral Services for confirmation of the conditions, and of any proof that may be required.
6. Distance and additional amounts
A rate of R12 per kilometre applies where the distance is over 100 km.
A R1,000 tent allowance is referenced where a funeral is far out of town.
An alternative grocery arrangement is referenced in the official pamphlet for children, dependants and extended family. Contact Bambanani Funeral Services to confirm the applicable additional amount and conditions.
7. The airtime benefit
An R100 airtime benefit may apply when a qualifying claim is made. Please confirm the applicable plan conditions with Bambanani Funeral Services.
8. Joining
A once-off joining fee of R60 applies when a plan is taken out.
9. Assistance with wills
Bambanani Funeral Services clients may receive assistance with a basic will at no additional cost, subject to confirmation and applicable terms. This is an assistance service and is not legal representation or legal advice.
10. Which document governs
This page is a summary written for clarity. It is not the policy contract. Where anything on this website differs from the official policy documentation supplied by Bambanani Funeral Services, the official documentation governs.
Plan benefits, age limits, waiting periods, conditions and availability are subject to the official Bambanani Funeral Services policy documentation and confirmation.
